Niel Rosen
Section: Visiting Scholar Program
Niel Rosen is currently a doctoral candidate at The Catholic University of America. He received his J.D., cum laude from The George Washington University Law School in 1993.
His research topic is: "On the Teleological Structure of Medicine and the Question of Medical Treatment at the End of Life."
Summary of Research Project: Since May 2006, I have frequently participated in Dr. Pellegrino's geriatric ethics rounds. This ongoing exposure to the realities of clinical medicine has helped shape my dissertation project, "On the Teleological Structure of Medicine and the Question of Medial Treatment at the End of Life: A Phenomenological Contribution." In general, my dissertation will defend Pellegrino's teleological theorry of medicine by developing the pattern of disruption and restoration Pellegrino articulates as he traces medicine back to its origins in the experience of illness, healing, and professing to heal.
