Section: Visiting Scholar Program
Kathleen Starr is the 2007 recipient of the James J. Giordano Scholarship for the Study of Bioethics from St. Peter's College, Jersey City, New Jersey.
Research Topic: Patient-centered contexts of the care and treatment of pain and suffering.
Research Summary:
My goal as a summer scholar is to open up to a new way of looking at medicine while gaining knowledge and training. Given that my goal is to become a physician, the topic I would like to deal with is patient-physician interation. As a summer scholar, I will be provided an environment where I can explore the ethics of patient-physician interaction and how traditional medicine, culture and technology all have implications on the relationship.
