Skorton, MD, President & CEO, Association of American Medical Colleges. The 2022 Pellegrino Student Scholars Essay Award Winners, Taylor Christie Carver, RN (GU School of Nursing, Nurse-Midwifery/Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner Program, 2023) and Dillon Williams, MS (GU School of Medicine, 2025) were also recognized at this event.

DECEMBER Dr. Carol Taylor, professor of advanced nursing practice and former director of the PCCB, and Dr. Sarah Vittone, assistant professor of professional nursing practice and clinical ethicist at the PCCB, helped develop a new 10-page ethics-related toolkit to support a major, multi-focused guide for how nursing schools educate their beginning and graduate-level nursing students. MAY The Annual Pellegrino Symposium took place via Zoom and commemorated the Center’s thirty years. Titled “This Moment in Bioethics,” the event was a reflection on the unprecedented events of the past year. Speakers discussed recent trends in bioethics, confrontedthe deleterious effects of racism in patient care and medicine, and considered the future for ethics at Georgetown and the development of the Emergent Ethics Network. As part of this new initiative, the Pellegrino Center will be collaborating with other centers at Georgetown to provide international leadership on emerging issues in bioethics, environmental justice, the use of big data and data analytics, as well as the ongoing need for deep philosophical reflection and study in ethics across disciplines.
